Welcome to the new ZBT Gamma Epsilon Web site
Pictures of some of our reunions are great till you see one that is no longer with us. Five guys that I knew well and are gone to their eternal destiny include Mike Chapman. Who could ever forget his smiling face and deep laughter. We miss him. Bill Demmler and his wife, Debbie, sat with my wife and me in Mulligan's Restaurant here in Richmond where we both live. We watched many Marshall football games together with our families. We saw our kids grow up. His last reunion was hard for my wife and me as we knew the end was only days away, if that long. They sat with us at our dinner table at his last reunion. Debbie has moved on with her life and is doing well. I admire her for her courage and toughness. Greg Hinerman, Mr. Blondie, never got a fair shake in life. He developed respiratory helath problems that plagued him most of his adult life. His wife worked with my mother-in-law for many years and that is how I kept up with him till his death. I wanted him as a little brother but some other lucky soul got him. We were good friends. And then there was Gary King, not a nicer person that you would ever want to meet. He and his wife were "special" to my wife and me. We enjoyed being in their home several times when we were first married. When he did his summer Reserve duty in Fort Lee, VA, he ALWAYS called me just to say hello. It meant so much to me to have that friendship. God rest his soul. And lastly, no more devasting news could have been given to me than the death of my little brother, Ron Stein. Friends and brothers, suicide is one of the most devasting things that can happen to any life. Anyone can become unstable in life and it is up to all of us to reach out our hand to our fellow man and pick them up when they get down. I will never forget a Monday back in the late 1960's that Ronnie came back from New Haven where he lived and told me that he had totaled his 1957 Chevy. He was so proud of that car. Larry Ball was too! I was crushed as it was a pretty car and ole Ronnie's foot got too heavy that Saturday night....but then it was only a car. May he too rest in peace and never be forgotten. Others I was not as close too but they were still a part of the brotherhood of Gamma Epsilon Chapter. Long live our fellowship and our brotherhood! The good memories of each are what we remember....
DEAR FELLOW ZBT BROTHERS OF GAMMA EPSILON. I WAS SURFING THE WEB AND CAME ACROSS YOUR WEBSITE. I MUST SAY YOUR WEBSITE LOOKS EXCELLENT!!!!! GAMMA EPSILON HAS A LOT OF HISTORY BEHIND IT. I WAS VERY IMPRESSED ON HOW THE BROTHERES OF GAMMA EPSILON SHOW SO MUCH PRIDE, LOVE AND DEDICATION TOWARDS ZBT AND MARSHALL UNIVERSITY. IF I WAS NOT A ZBT BROTHER ALREADY, THIS WEBSITE WOULD MAKE ME WANT TO JOIN YOUR ZBT CHAPTER. I JUST LOVE IT!!! QUESTION...HAVE THE ALUMNI BROTHERS OF GAMMA EPSILON EVER DECIDED TO PETITION THE ZBT NATIONAL EXPANSION COMMITTEE TO RE-ACTIVATE THE UNDERGRADUATE CHAPTER OF GAMMA EPSILON AT MARSHALL UNIVERSITY? I KNOW ZBT IS ALWAYS LOOKING TO EXPAND AND WITHIN THE LAST 3 YRS, ZBT HAS BEEN EXPANDING RAPIDLY ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND INTO CANADA. JUST BY READING AND VIEWING YOUR WEBSITE, I FEEL THAT A NEW UNDERGRADUATE CHAPTER OF GAMMA EPSILON CAN BENEFIT GREATLY FROM YOUR WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONALISM THAT YOU AS ALUMNI CAN OFFER TO UNDERGADUATE BROTHERS. FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, MY CHAPTER CLOSED IN THE LATE 80'S AND JUST A FEW YEARS AGO IT WAS RE-ACTIVATED BY ZBT NATIONAL. AS ALUMNI OF THE ORIGINAL CHAPTER WE WERE CONTACTED BY THE ZBT EXPANISON COMMITTEE TO BEOME COLONY ADVISORS TO THE NEW GROUP. I HAVE TO SAY IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISSION I AND A FEW OF MY CHAPTER BROTHERS MADE IN HELPING A NEW GROUP GO FROM COLONY TO A FULL CHARTERED CHAPTER. THE UNDERGRADUATE BROTHERS WERE GREETFUL TO THE ALUMNI IN HELPING GROW AND EDUCATE THEM ON ALL ASPECTS OF CHAPTER OPERATIONS AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING. THEY (UNDERGRADUATE BROTHERES)REFERRED TO THE ALUMNI AS THE "FATHERLY FIGURES" OF ZBT. I DO NOT KNOW IF THE MARSHALL UNIVERSITY'S IFC IS OPEN TO EXPANSION, BUT IT COULD NOT HURT TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY FOR ZBT TO RE-ESTABLISH ITSELF WITH THE ACTIVE GREEK LIFE AT MARSHALL UNIVERISTY. I LEARNED FROM MY YEARS OF WORKING IN CORPORATE AMERICA AND BEING AN ALUMNI ADVISOR TO MY ACTIVE CHAPTER THAT ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!!! YOU JUST HAVE TO "GO FOR IT!!!!" AGAIN, THIS COULD BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR BOTH THE ALUMNI TO CONTINUE THE RICH HISTORY WITH ZBT AT MARSHALL UNIVERSITY AND NEW UNDERGRADUATE BROTHERS TO EXPERIENCE THE TRUE BROTHERHOOD BOND OF GAMMA EPSILON AND WHAT IT HAS TO OFFER....AS HOME AWAY FROM HOME, THAT IS ZBT. GODD LUCK BROTHERS. KEEP ZBT IN YOURS HEARTS AND AS ALWAYS...."IT'S GREAT TO BE A ZBT."
I found myself profoundly moved as I viewed the pictures of the reunions we have had in the last several years. Tears began to form in my eyes as memories flooded my mind not only of reunions but of those days gone by, when most of our earthly lives were still ahead of us and our dreams were a mist 'out there somewhere'. Now we find ourselves in the Autumn years. For some the dreams have become reality and for others yet a flickering hope. Among those things that I consider eternal in my life are the treasured times I spent at Marshall getting to know the brothers of Gamma Epsilon, Zeta Beta Tau. But even more treasured now are the times of reunion we have shared. I always look forward to those moments. As Conley so eloquently expressed, we cannot ever look at one another without remembering those who have passed on from this life. As long as we continue to hold closely our fraternal fellowship, those who pass on will never be too far away, because we hold them in our hearts. Years have a way of giving clarity to our past life experiences. Thanks Denny Caldwell for pursing me so vigorously to be a part of ZBT. I needed it so much. Thanks, my brothers, for making my life better than it would have been without you. I look forward to seeing many of you in the Fall. God bless you all. Dave Anderson
Just finished a motorcycle tour which included two days in Huntington. Spent some time on the campus and was amazed at the changes. It looked like a different place since my last visit nearly 10 years ago.
Sorry I couldn't make the reunion. From what I've heard it was a blast. Jeep tells me there are lots of photos coming. Look forward to it.
